What is Head Trauma?

“A craniocerebral trauma is used to describe ‘a minor confusion to a deep coma’.”

- Dr. Judith Marcoux, Neurosurgeon at the Montréal General Hospital – MUHC

It’s a fact!

Each year in Québec, 3,000 persons are hospitalized for head trauma. More than 200 patients do not survive, 100 are left in a vegetative state and almost 200 live on with the permanent and apparent effects of their injury.

“Because many of these accidents occur to young people, traumatic brain injury is the main cause of life-years lost and years of productive life lost.“

- Dr. Judith Marcoux, Neurosurgeon at the Montréal General Hospital – MUHC
